"Towards the Sea / Towards the Desert"
Cengiz Tacer (1938) became interested in cinema, theater, and photography during his years at Galatasaray High School. During that time, he became acquainted with the art world, which was in search of new openings in every field. After completing high school, Tacer entered the world of cinema. In the 1960s, he worked as a director of photography in nearly 40 films, collaborating with master and young directors of that period, including Duygu Sağıroğlu, Lütfü Akad, Metin Erksan, Halit Refiğ, and Atıf Yılmaz, making significant contributions to the development of Turkish cinema. He won the "Best Cinematographer" awards at the Antalya Film Festival for Muzaffer Arslan's "Ankara Express" (1971) and Atıf Yılmaz's "Oppression" (1972). In the early 1970s, as the advertising field began to develop, he shot the first advertising films with ManAjans. He filmed the documentary "Turkey Along the Roads" (30") for the BP company for the 50th anniversary of the Republic.
