Değirmenci graduated from the department of sculpture of Fine Arts Faculty at Marmara University in 1991. He held his first solo show in 1994.  

Değirmenci's paintings refer to the movements of nature, but they are not necessarily the visualisation of it but rather the experimental outcome of a spiritual internalization.

For the artist, the act of pictorising nature is related more to the transformation of a physical phenomenon into a sensational act. Interpreting the states of nature with metaphores is a striking fact about his paintings. However this time, the artist takes a position right in the center of nature and through refinement, remembrance and introspection, he is interpreting an internal journey with an expressive abstract imagination.
