TEXT

Habip Aydoğdu's works, which emerged after a trip to the places where Van Gogh lived and painted in France, with a group of artists within the scope of the “In Search of Vincent Van Gogh - In Search of Modernism” project, was held between January 6-31, 2009 at Milli Reasürans Sanat. It is on display in the gallery.

Immediately after Habip Aydoğdu's return from this trip, the irresistible thrust of the burden on him was embodied in the canvas. In the resulting paintings, Aydoğdu does not try to 'Interpret Van Gogh'. Instead, the life and art of the genius artist Van Gogh; In the exhibition, we see the effects of his incalculable sincerity towards people, life, nature and art, and his uncompromising honesty and belief that will eventually cost him his life.

Habip Aydoğdu states that he was “very impressed, excited and loaded with intense emotions from this trip”. He transferred these savings to a notebook with pictures, writings and lines wherever he had the opportunity. While this “diary” helps him concentrate on his work on paper, very original works emerge. In the exhibition at the Milli Re Art Gallery, Aydoğdu's exciting creative adventure, ranging from his daily works to canvases, is presented openly.

In this exhibition, Habip Aydoğdu tries to "talk to his paintings" with the great master who was lost 118 years ago. In keeping with the advice in Van Gogh's last letter to his brother Theo, written just before his death, "Here it is, the truth is that we can only speak with our pictures"...
