EXHIBITIONS / PAST / NURCAN GIZ

TEXT

The painting exhibition of Nurcan Giz, a painter who has lived and worked in Geneva since 1980, can be seen at the Millî Reasürans Art Gallery between November 30 and December 20, 2000.

Nurcan Giz, who received her art education in Geneva, turned to abstract painting shortly after starting to paint. Stating that light gives birth to matter and cosmic knowledge, Nurcan Giz notes that in her exhibition, which she has been preparing for two years, she focuses on the "matter-light" relationship. In the forms and colors she creates on canvas, the artist attempts to leave a musical and poetic taste while pursuing the mystery of matter and, in this context, the figure.

In her recent works, Nurcan Giz brings together spaces of different scales on canvas, emphasizing the importance of looking at the object both from afar and up close, adding: "In fact, it is necessary to find ways to look at the object from within itself."

Nurcan Giz, who has been painting since 1985 and held her first exhibition in 1991, has exhibited her works in France, Switzerland, Belgium, Austria, the Netherlands, and in Turkey, in Istanbul, Ankara, and Izmir.

Nurcan Giz's painting exhibition can be viewed at the Millî Reasürans Art Gallery between November 30 and December 20, 2000.
