TEXT

The exhibition titled "Rural Architecture in the Eastern Black Sea Region," prepared by the Millî Reasürans Art Gallery, can be visited from June 27th to August 27th, 2005. During the exhibition, the documentary "When the Mists Clear, Old Houses Old Masters, Eastern Black Sea," directed by Süha Arın, will be screened.

The project, under the direction of the director of the Millî Reasürans Art Gallery, Amelie Edgü, and with the scientific responsibility of Prof. Dr. Afife Batur, was later strengthened by the participation of Prof. Dr. Şengül Öymen Gür, Dr. Reşat Sümerkan, and Dr. Meryem Fındıkgil Doğuoğlu from Karadeniz Technical University. Ali Konyalı has been involved in the research team from the beginning, contributing to the photographic documentation work and creating a visually rich accumulation of art.

Afife Batur mentioned that the selection of this region was due to "the least disturbed, original examples of rural architecture in the Black Sea Region, extending from Trabzon to the eastern border." She emphasized that the unique topography consisting of mountains and valleys descending steeply to the sea, along with a rich vegetation and forests, has led to the formation of rural settlements that can truly be examined as a distinct model. She stated that it is a cultural responsibility to reflect this uniqueness to the public and to ensure that such efforts are recognized by scientific and cultural circles.
