TEXT

Born in 1952, the artist Rosemarie Trockel first studied antropology, sociology, teology and math. She later studied painting "Kölner Werkschulen" in Cologne. She had her first solo exhibition in 1983 in Bonn and Cologne. In her exhibitions she addressed the issues of women and the woman's place in art. In 1988 She gained recognition with the exhibition she opened in Moma in USA. Especially in 1997with her very provacative work in the exhibition ‘A house for Pigs and People’ which she realised with Carsten Höller for “Documenta X” she has attracted a lot of attention.

This exhibition of Trockel at Milli Reasürans Art Gallery is indeed a part of monographic series of IFA which also has Sigmar Polke, Georg Baselitz and Gerhard Richter. This exhibition is not only telling the place of Trockel in the contemporary world but also showing her point of departure of her works.
