New Trends in Architecture in Europe and Asia-Pacific

Milli Reasürans Art Gallery is taking part in Istanbul 2010 Capital Culture of Europe events with the exhibition ‘New Trends in Architecture in Europe and Asia-Pacific’. The exhibition is also included in the events of ‘2010 Japanese Year in Turkey’.

Organised by Arkitera Architecture Center, sponsored by 2010 İstanbul Capital of Culture Agency and supported by Buildist, the exhibition ‘New Trends in Architecture in Europe and Asia-Pasific’ is on view at Milli Reasürans Art Gallery between March 9 - April 10, 2010.

In the exhibition where the unique and outstanding designs of architects from 8 countries in Europe and 7 countries in Asia-Pacific are shown together, Han Tümertekin is also represented.

Within the context of the exhibition, a panel is organised in Milli Reasürans Auditorium on Tuesday, March 9 at 4 p.m. Guest speakers: Han Tümertekin, Mun Summ Wong from Singapore, Reinhard Kropf from Norway, Bernardo Rodrigues from Portugal and Tatsuya Yamamote, the Japanese architect who works in Istanbul.

The exhibition will be inaugurated by Şevkip Avgadiç, President of Istanbul 2010 Capital of Culture Agency.

A bilingual publication (Turkish and English) including the text of Sir Peter Cook and Toyo Ito, curators of the exhibition, is available during the exhibition period at Milli Reasürans Art Gallery.

The exhibition ‘New Trends in Architecture in Europe and Asia-Pacific’ which was initiated in 2001 by a group of cultural and press counsellors to Japan of the then fifteen EU member states, European cultural institutes, and a delegation of the European Commission to Japan with the aim of creating opportunities to share ideas and experiences between Europe and Japan, will have its final launching in Istanbul.

Sir Peter Cook and Toyo Ito, curators of the exhibition, made a selection of unique and outstanding projects of architects from 8 countries in Europe and 7 countries in Asia-Pacific which are being shown together.

The exhibition was already hosted in 18 cities including Tokyo, Salamanca, Bordeaux, Lizbon, Madrid, Lille, Hong Kong, Cork, Melbourne, Anyang, Porto, Patras, Perth, Barcelona, Luxembourg and Niiagata.

Within the context of the exhibition, a panel is organised with Ömer Kanıpak as moderator and Han Tümertekin, Reinhard Kropf from Norway, Bernardo Rodrigues from Portugal and Mun Summ Wong from Singapore as well as the Japanese Architect Tatsuya Yamamoto who works in Istanbul, as guest speakers.
